Spanish Anarchists and Republicans of the The 9th Company of the Régiment de marche du Tchad "La Nueve", in exile from fascist Spain, are the first to enter Paris and liberate it. A Mechanized division their vehicles bore the name bearing the names of the Spanish Civil War battles of Teruel and Guadalajara. Part of the French army, under Maréchal Leclerc, "The nine", continued its offensive straight into Germany. Along the way, the Spaniards helped liberate Strasbourg, and they were present when the allies took Berchtesgaden, Hitler’s headquarters in the Bavarian Alps.
